Body After Baby: Bring it on! : Fit Mom?in Training

Baby O has finally arrived and now that we?re home and I?m gradually recovering from surgery and counting down to the coveted ?all clear? from my doctor, it?s time to shift focus a bit. I?ve spent the last 42 weeks documenting as best as I can, my journey through a fit and healthy pregnancy. All in all, I did awesome! I moved, I grooved and I kept my weight gain to a reasonable amount of 33lbs which is 17 less than I gained last time. But it wasn?t as much about the weight as the lifestyle. I felt good, I felt strong and I know my body will bounce back faster because of it.

That being said, I also recognize that the portrayal of post-pregnancy that the media sheds light on is far from?accurate. Those 33lbs don?t just melt off the second the baby comes out. My abs aren?t going to magically fasten themselves back together and suddenly form a six-pack and I can guarantee you the only thing flat on my body right now are the bottoms of my feet. The only thing that irks me more than the skewed views society imposes on us for what is healthy vs. unhealthy (i.e. size 0->healthy; size 6->plus size) is the idea that women?s bodies can, should and do shed the veil of pregnancy instantly.

People?it just ain?t so.

I am not a professional, I have no fancy degrees or education therefore the views here are strictly my own and based on my own experience. That being said, I can also say that as an average, every day women who juggles 2 kids, career (when not on maternity leave), home, outside family demands and so forth, what you see in magazines in not realistic. But that does not by any means say that you can?t have that same end result?just don?t expect it to happen overnight.

Although there's already a Debian release for the diminutive device, the project's official blog states that Fedora Remix is the distribution it'll be recommending to users. The OS image fits on a 2GB memory card, and comes complete with a GUI, programming and system administration tools, web browser and other essential apps to get you going. As for that February 20th release date, sadly that seems less reliable.

As the star of Ringer, Sarah Michelle Gellar?s workday often involves long hours on the set, but don?t bother explaining that to her daughter Charlotte Grace, who thinks mom?s career is far more glamorous.

?She totally knows what my job is. My job is to get my hair and makeup done,? the actress tells PEOPLE of her 2-year-old, who frequently visits her while she films the show.

?[She thinks my job is] to go in the hair and makeup trailer.?

While the little one is not allowed to watch scenes from the decidedly adult drama, Charlotte has found a home base on set, often joining costar Ioan Gruffudd?s daughter Ella on playdates.

?Pottery Barn actually came to our set and did a playroom for all of the kids,? says Gellar, 34. ?We have a place where they can come and be a part of it, so [the parents are] not missing out.?

Her fondness for the brand is also what led the actress to partner with them for an Operation Shower event on Wednesday in L.A. The baby shower, which was sponsored by Carousel Designs, provided 40 military spouses and moms-to-be with the necessary products expectant mothers need.

?I was telling my daughter before I left today ? I said, ?Mommy is going to go to a baby shower for people who don?t have other family here and don?t have everything they need,?? Geller explains. ?She said, ?I want to give them something!? It?s just so cute for her to understand what I was doing; it was important to me. She wanted to donate a stuffed animal.?

Though she?s been able to seamlessly juggle such events, shooting and spending time with her daughter up until this point, Gellar calls finding the balance an ongoing challenge.

?It?s a learning curve, it?s definitely a learning process,? she says. ?My hat goes off to anyone that juggles all of it because it?s very hard. You always feel like there?s a part of you that?s not giving enough to one, whether it?s work or your family or your charitable donations.?

1 Chicken (3 1/2 pounds)
2 Cloves garlic, peeled and crushed

1/4 lb Egg noodles
1 Stalk celery with leaves

1 Sprig parsley

Pull off as much of the yellow fat as possible from the chicken. Place the chicken halves in a five- to six-quart pot along with the gizzard, neck and heart. (Reserve the liver for another purpose.) Cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and allow to boil for five minutes, skimming off any scum and foam from the surface.

Lower the heat to simmer and add the vegetables, herbs and garlic. Stir in salt to taste, as much as one tablespoon. Simmer gently for 1 1/4 hours, until the chicken is done. Do not let the liquid boil at any time or the

When the chicken is done, remove it and the vegetables from the pot and set it aside, covered, to keep warm. Strain the liquid through a fine strainer or a clean linen napkin set in a strainer. Rinse out the pot and return the liquid to the pot. The soup should be clear and golden, with very little fat on the surface. Chilling overnight will allow you to remove all the fat, if you wish. Dice the carrot, peel and halve the onion and halve the celery. Discard the rest of the cooked vegetables and herbs.

Cook the noodles in a separate pot of boiling water until tender set aside, covered, to keep warm. Remove the skin from the chicken and cut the chicken into serving pieces. The Best Chicken Recipe

To serve, reheat the soup to a simmer and return the chicken to the pot. Simmer for five minutes. Place a few pieces of chicken in each of four deep bowls along with some of the noodles and diced vegetables. Ladle hou soup over each serving. Sprinkle with minced parsley and serve.
