ST. PAUL, Minn. ? The newly remodeled Union Depot in downtown St. Paul will be getting another transportation service this morning.
Jefferson Bus Lines is starting regional intercity bus service from the new multi-modal transportation center in downtown St. Paul today. The first coach is expected to pull in from Duluth this morning, and depart later for Milwaukee.
That's the start of service scheduled to include Kansas City, Green Bay and other cities by Jefferson Lines.
The service adds to existing Metro Transit bus service at the riverfront train station, reopened last month after a $240 million renovation, and a 40-year hiatus from passenger service.
Amtrak passenger trains are expected to return to service at the Depot in 2013, and a bike shop and service center is supposed to open this spring.
Metro Transit's Central Corridor light rail service between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul will stop in front of the depot starting in 2014.
