Angela Harris and the BCCMA in 2012 ? radiowrangler

The British Columbia Country Music Association?has seen some big changes in the last decade. As a the voice of B.C. country artists and professionals, the?BCCMA continues to grow in both size and influence.?The association wants to bridge the gap between the fans and industry professionals of B.C. country.?

Singer, songwriter and music industry professional?Angela Harris has been a member of the British Columbia country music world for over 25 years. In 2012, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the BCCMA.

Previously, Harris taught in the Arts and Entertainment Management program at Capilano University in North Vancouver, British Columbia. She has also been involved with the?Vancouver Folk Music Festival.?Harris?is a songwriter and performer too, in 2011 she released Is Your Life as it Should Be, her fourth album as a solo artist, on her Routes Records?label.

According to a press release from BCCMA Executive Director Nicole Muncey, the 2012 Board of Directors?will be focusing on communications, multimedia relations, community building, sponsorship, fundraisers/grants, networking/social events and the awards show weekend.

Harris?says ?[the?BCCMA] wants to stitch members, sponsors and the public into one big community.?We want the internal executive to know more about the members of the?BCCMA.? Her experience as a performer, industry professional and event planner have prepared Harris for her new role on the Board of Directors.

Harris?has been involved with the?BCCMA?for years, and she says that this year ?was the time to dive in? and help a community that has given her so much. Since 2009,?Harris has been instrumental in growing the annual?BCCMA?awards show. At the?2010 show, she took on the role of co-producer as the?BCCMA?came together to celebrate B.C. country at the?Red Robinson Show Theatre in Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Harris?is also working on the Music Rules in Schools program in schools across the Metro Vancouver region. The?Music Rules in Schools?program teaches students about the music industry and country music. After being test piloted in Langley schools in 2011, the?Music Rules in Schools?program is being reviewed by the Langley School Board to have the program begin in 2012.
