A BLONDE air stewardess was so drunk on a passenger flight from Dubai to the UK she was eight times over the legal drink-flight limit, a court heard.
Boozy Stephanie Partington, 24, was arrested after the concerned captain of her Emirates flight suspected she had been drinking and called police when the plane touched down.
The pretty blonde was breathalysed by airport cops when the Boeing 777 landed at Birmingham International Airport on its return from Dubai on April 23 this year.
She denied boozing during the seven hour flight but the court heard a blood test found 164mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood - twice the legal drink-drive limit which is 80mg.
Under aviation laws, the legal limit for flight attendants is just 20mg.
Partington, from Liverpool, was sacked from the luxury airline following the incident and is now on Jobseeker?s Allowance.
She appeared at Solihull Magistrates Court, West Mids, on Monday to face a charge under the Civil Aviation Act.
Partington pleaded guilty to a charge of being a member of cabin crew and being under the influence of drink to such an extent as her capacity to act was impaired
Magistrates fined her ?110 with ?85 costs and a ?15 victim surcharge.
Fiona Davis, prosecuting, said the captain felt Partington was drunk and called the police when the plane landed at Birmingham after the seven-hour flight.
She said: ?She was working at the back of the plane and during the flight the purser became aware she was very loud and had to ask her to quieten down.
?At the end of the flight she was required to fill in paperwork and the purser noticed her handwriting was very bad and what she wrote was illegible.
?The purser was concerned about her behaviour.?
Lois Cullen, defending, said her client had been sacked and was now on Jobseeker?s Allowance.
She said Partington had only recently joined Emirates and was on a rest day in Dubai when she was asked to work on the flight at short notice.
She said: ?She had gone out the night before and was drinking until the early hours of the morning.
?At noon she got a call asking if she was available to staff a flight to Birmingham at 3pm.
?She wanted to make a good impression and said she was available.
?She was also keen to take a flight to the UK so she could see her friends and family.?
Ms Cullen disputed the purser?s claim that Partington did not perform her duties professionally.
She said: ?My client felt she did perform her duties reasonably, and in fact, one of the passengers praised her for being helpful and attentive.?
She refused to comment as she left court.
Emirates also refused to comment.
